The governor of the National Social Security Institute (NSSI) Ivaylo Ivanov become a member of the Steering Committee of the European Network of the International Social Security Association (ISSA).

He was elected by the ISSA Bureau during the World Social Security Forum hold in Brussels on October 2019. The Steering Committee comprises chairperson and representatives of European sub-regions. In 2020-2022 period Mr. Ivanov will represent Central-East subregion including Albania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Nord Macedonia, Poland and Serbia.

The first meeting of the newly elected committee will take place in Warsaw on December 2019. The principal task of the IEN is to enhance and increase the number and scope of activities in the region. The main method is through the organization of small-scale, focused technical seminars.

In Brussels Mr. Ivaylo Ivanov confirmed that NSSI will contribute to the IEN activities addressing challenges and key issues of common interest for the sub-region. He expressed willingness to host a Technical seminar on the priority topics. The prevention of frauds and errors in social security is among the main priorities of NSSI. Within this context NSSI could actively contribute to the launch and implementation of the new ISSA Guidelines addressing error, evasion, and fraud in social security systems.
