The National Social Security Institute (NSSI) hosted an official visit by representatives of the management of the Polish Social Insurance Institution (ZUS). The purpose of the visit was to exchange experience at a strategic level regarding the implementation of new technologies in the work of both institutions.

On the Bulgarian side, the guests were welcomed by the Deputy-Governor of the Institute, Ivaylo Zdravkov. He emphasized the efforts of both institutions to expand the scope of the electronic services they offer and highlighted the role of artificial intelligence in their future development.

“Today, the digitalization of processes in social security is an integral part of the agenda of every institution. It not only enables the optimization of processes but also provides an opportunity to increase capacity. This, in turn, leads to improved service quality and a reduction in the administrative burden,” Zdravkov stated in his address to the guests, adding that the regular sharing of accumulated experience in the field is a pathway to effective European integration.

During the discussions, NSSI experts presented the software resources used to support and ensure the activities and processes within the institution, focusing on system implementation and the technologies employed. They also shared the institution’s good practices in the use of advanced technologies in social security systems. The guests learned more about the development and implementation of the NSSI’s Unified Electronic Services Portal, the electronic social security file for each insured person, and other initiatives.

The representatives of ZUS, in turn, introduced their hosts to the Polish institution’s extensive experience in the design and development of electronic services based on mobile applications, the integration of existing administrative channels, and related initiatives.

This was the second high-level meeting on digitalization between the two institutions in less than a year. In May 2025, a Bulgarian delegation visited Warsaw, where discussions also focused on issues related to the digitalization of social security processes.
